A small copper disc (12mm) has been decorated by kiln firing layers of glass enamel powder which are then fused together to create pattern. Due to the nature of the enamelling process each design is entirely unique and individual.

Jewellery Enamel is a surface treatment on copper where glass powder is heated to a high temperature and fused on to metal creating a unique translucency of colour.
I use a small electric kiln to create my enamel pieces and colour is built up in layers on the surface , it only takes a few minutes for the enamel to melt and I enjoy the effect heat has on the surface and the creative scope for designing and working with colour in this way.
