Thought I would give you a look at where I am and what I am at. ( At the moment!)
This morning I have just dropped off my youngest son at nursery ( first week) and the other two brothers at school. My husband is just starting a new college course today having spent a long time being self employed and working very erratically mainly from home. The upshot of all this really is that after 8 years of looking after my children I have come back to an empty house.Well for two and a half hours anyway.
I am really lucky to have a great studio space in my house that I can escape to and be creative.I have a jewellery business www.mycherrypie.co.uk that I have been working on for a couple of years now, mainly in the evening and at weekends – but that is all about to change…..
I hope you will follow my journey as I transform from “Frazzled Mummy to Creative, successful, productive, entrepreneur with the perfect work/life balance” when I will be holidaying in a beach house in California !! Okay maybe just glamping in the next couple of years.
My less than tidy studio desk
Something I have been working on combining etching and enamel to create pattern. The posh name for it is champleve.
More images of my studio. I enjoy doing bits and bobs of everything really as you can tell by the creative mayhem.
I have chosen to share some of the books I refer to most for my work. I originally trained as a textile designer and then Art Therapist so most of my jewellery techniques i have learned either by trial and error or at night classes.I always like to incorporate colour and pattern in my work whenever I can.
Enamelling is my favourite technique at the moment.
I have just started a new class to learn how to do the exciting technique of chasing and repousse. I will keep you posted on that one.
This is where my dreams are headed, I would love to make little boxes and objects out of silver and copper. A lot to learn first though.
So that is where I am at from a work point of view.
A little bit more about me, I am not as fit as I would like to be so I have signed up for NHS Couch to 5K running challenge, this is a 9 week programme, I am on week 2 and I can still walk so that has to be a good thing. I will let you know how I get on with that too.
Finally I thought I would share some of the books that are currently at my bedside as I do enjoy reading when I am not too tired and it is always great to get #book reviews from others as I have a very broad taste in books and am always open to suggestion.
Just about finished this book. Really down to earth and completative book about life, the universe, and everything.
Only read the first couple of chapters of this, I love to read autobiographies and picked this up from the charity boo shelve in our doctors surgery.
Have this one waiting to be read, I am sure someone recommended it to me but have yet to start it. Anyone else read it ?
Okay Thank you for reading and my morning peace spot is just about over so need to go for now. If you liked my blog post and would like to catch up on ” What I am and Where I am at ” then I will speak to you again soon,
Take Care and Best Wishes
